Michael Dawson has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t expect to see Harry Kane play for Tottenham against Manchester City this afternoon.
The striker has been linked with a big-money switch to the Citizens and returned late to pre-season training following Euro 2020.
Dawson thinks it would be wrong for Nuno Espirito Santo to utilise Kane during today’s game. Tottenham face the reigning Premier League champions in their curtain-raiser later today.
Kane claimed the Golden Boot last season, whilst he also claimed an award for the player with the most assists in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old does want to leave though. He feels as though his time at Tottenham has come to an end and his future is very uncertain.
Dawson is on Sky this afternoon as a pundit for the Premier League double-header and made some claims about Kane.
He said: “You can’t expect to train for 2-3 days and come and play out here. It’s a level above. He’s not ready to play against Manchester City.”
Spurs supporters would love to have their main man in attack today. It does seem highly unlikely that he will be in the 20 man squad today though.
Kane has hardly had any pre-season and that doesn’t bode well ahead of Espirito Santo’s maiden game in charge.
Daniel Levy looks like standing firm in his desire to keep Kane. That would be risky though, as it could mean Tottenham keeping a player who has clearly had his head turned.
Only time will tell whether or not he can be kept at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but Spurs fans will be glad to see the transfer window close.
