Mauricio Pochettino future: Fabrizio Romano shares latest update amid Tottenham speculation

    Mauricio Pochettino

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mauricio Pochettino is eager to return to management, but there have been no indications of Chelsea making an approach for the former Tottenham boss.

As speculation around Antonio Conte’s future at Tottenham continues, there has been talk of Pochettino potentially making a triumphant return to the club in recent months, as reported by the Daily Mail.

After leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the 50-year-old Mauricio Pochettino has remained jobless. On Tuesday, 90 min reported that Chelsea had approached the Argentine to replace Graham Potter as the head coach at Stamford Bridge.

According to the publication, Pochettino declined the offer from Chelsea as the position did not fulfill all his criteria. However, Romano has disclosed that Pochettino is exploring his options and he is not aware of any recent approach made by Chelsea.

According to the journalist speaking to CaughtOffSide’s Substack, there is currently no contact between Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino. While the Blues were in touch with him last year following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, the journalist is not aware of any new approach. Pochettino is reportedly eager to return to management and considering all options, having been jobless since being dismissed by PSG.

It may be overly optimistic to believe that Pochettino would reject Chelsea’s proposal and wait for a possible opportunity with Spurs if Conte departs at the end of the season. However, it is reasonable to assume that the Argentine would carefully evaluate any offer from the Blues. Therefore, I am doubtful about the 90 min report claiming that Pochettino declined Chelsea’s advances.

According to Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini, Antonio Conte is unlikely to be on the sidelines for the upcoming Chelsea clash this weekend.

Player admits fault and expresses regret for forcing exit from Tottenham

Conte, the Italian head coach, is still recuperating from gallbladder surgery, which has resulted in him being absent from the Spurs dugout on multiple occasions in recent weeks.

Despite his team’s 2-0 victory over West Ham in the London derby, the 53-year-old was unable to attend, and he is anticipated to miss out again when his former club visits the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
