Manchester City back in the market for star striker

Having failed in their pursuit of Harry Kane in the recently concluded summer window, Manchester City are now starting to feel the effects of not being able to land a quality striker. The lack of a proper number nine like their summer target in Harry Kane is hurting Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur refused to let their main man leave, rejecting two massive bids from the reigning Premier League champions, in the process.

Victor Osimhen, 22, has notched up three goals from three games this season, including a brace in Napoli’s first Europa League fixture. Osimhen’s performances have consequently caught the eye of several top clubs in Europe and Napoli may be inclined to sell him this winter or next summer, with the Nigerian striker failing to live up to the hype surrounding his €70 million move from LOSC Lille last summer.

Todofichajes reports that Manchester City have now fixed their eyes on Osimhen and Napoli could look to sell him for €70 million, the sum that they bought him last term. The likes of Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United are also said to be interested in the 22-year-old.

Manchester City would hope to get the transfer fee down to €50 million though, Having said that, it cannot be fully agreed upon that Osimhen is the current priority at the Etihad Stadium, given that Erling Haaland is likely to move next summer.

The Borussia Dortmund striker’s contract contains a release clause worth £77 million which only becomes active next summer and City are considered to be one of the favorites to sign the 21-year-old.

Manchester City are in desperate need of a striker and next summer, a grand signing could be expected on the part of the Cityzens, though a surprise winter move for Harry Kane cannot be ruled out, given that Tottenham Hotspurs are currently struggling, though the points table may not suggest the same.

Who do you think Manchester City will sign as their next striker?
