Ledley King believes that Tottenham Hotspur can match the ambition of Harry Kane.
The 28-year-old’s future in North London has been the subject of intense press speculation since Sky Sports claimed in May that he had reiterated his desire to leave the club ahead of the new season.
The Telegraph reported yesterday that Kane is due to return to the club’s training ground on Monday and is looking to hold talks with chairman Daniel Levy to insist that he wants to join Manchester City.
Levy is said to be determined to keep Kane, who has three years left to run on his contract and reject the advances of any potential suitor (The Athletic).
King, who reverted to an ambassadorial role at Tottenham following the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo stopped short of giving his verdict on what could happen over Kane’s future but instead insisted that both parties are very ambitious.
“We know he is one of the best strikers in the world. Harry is ambitious and I know the club is very ambitious,” King was quoted by the Irish Independent.
“That is as far as it goes, I wouldn’t like to say what is going to happen next, all I know is the club is very ambitious and Harry is himself, so that’s it.”
