Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration after Harry Kane’s goal against Leeds United was not overturned in favour of the striker, writes the Spurs Web.
Kane was played through on goal by Dele Alli and the England captain showed great composure to lift the ball over the oncoming Illan Meslier in the Leeds goal.
The effort was flagged offside by the assistant referee with VAR deciding to take a closer look.
Paul Tierney, who is in charge of VAR today reviewed Kane’s position prior to receiving the pass from Dele and judged that the 27-year-old was indeed offside.
The black and red lines overlayed onto the screen to show Kane’s foot compared to that of the Leeds defender appeared to be level, but Spurs were denied the opportunity to go ahead.
Leeds broke the deadlock after thirteen minutes, with Heung-min Son levelling the score with a neat finish twelve minutes later. Patrick Bamford later put Leeds ahead.
So because Kane didn’t cut his toenails today he is offside? The rule is an absolute joke, that can never be ruled offside

This isn’t football. Ridiculous. If it’s ruled out pre-VAR that’s one thing, but to look at this image and say it’s offside, with the benefit of technology? Nonsense and #THFC very unlucky. Time to change this, surely… pic.twitter.com/UnXHluR19i

I think that’s the worst VAR offside call I’ve ever seen

Games gone. The rule should be – if it looks offside then it is. Everyone in the country would agree bar the virgins at Stockley Park.
