Telegraph reporter Jason Burt has told The Kelly And Wrighty Show that Harry Kane has already “mentally” left Tottenham for Manchester City.
Kane, 28, has stayed at Spurs after Daniel Levy dug his heels in – preventing Kane from leaving to join Manchester City. City refused to pay his price tag.
It was a tumultuous summer for the England skipper. Kane believed he was allowed to go, having struck a gentleman’s agreement with Daniel Levy.
But Levy refused to sell, with no release clause included his deal. Levy has come out of the ordeal with a stronger relationship with Spurs fans.
Asked about the move he covered in depth during the summer, Burt spoke about Kane’s current stance. He states Kane is mentally away from Spurs.
“I think they will let him go next year, but he wanted to go this year. That’s the problem. Mentally, he is out of the door,” Burt said.
“He is thinking he is going. Pep Guardiola tried to sign him, not just Manchester City – Guardiola really wanted him.”
Almost a definite. Even if Tottenham performed above expectation and reached the top four, or won the Europa Conference League, he will still go.
Manchester City and Guardiola remain keen admirers and their trophy search remains just as strong as it did last season.
They will have to spend big, but it almost suits City spreading out the costs of Kane and Jack Grealish. Next summer, Kane will be cheaper, too.
That is because he will be 29. So, all signs point towards Kane joining Manchester City – unless Spurs perform a miracle and win the title.
