Journalist shares what he’s hearing about Arne Slot and Tottenham

In a significant development for Tottenham Hotspur, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is reportedly set to be announced as their new head coach in the coming days. Wayne Veysey, a prominent journalist, revealed that an agreement between the parties could seal the deal for Slot’s appointment.

The search for a permanent replacement for former manager Antonio Conte has been ongoing for the Lilywhites since parting ways with him approximately two months ago. Tottenham and Conte went their separate ways after the Premier League side failed to capitalize on their top-four success from the previous season. Conte’s scathing post-match rant following a 3-3 draw with Southampton also contributed to the decision.

Since Conte’s departure, numerous coaches have been linked with the managerial vacancy, but it seems that chairman Daniel Levy has narrowed down his shortlist. Reports suggest that Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP, Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton, and Arne Slot are all in contention for the role. However, Slot appears to be the frontrunner at present, having recently secured his first Eredivisie title with Feyenoord.

Discussions have already taken place between Tottenham and the former AZ Alkmaar boss. Wayne Veysey, in an article for Football Insider, made an astonishing claim that the official announcement of Slot’s appointment could be made “within days” once an agreement is finalized. Negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage, and the Lilywhites are reportedly “confident” of securing the services of the Dutchman this week. Despite his recent success at Feyenoord, Slot is open to the idea of leaving the club to take on the challenge at Tottenham.

If everything falls into place, Tottenham Hotspur could soon make significant progress in their pursuit of a new manager. Arne Slot brings with him an impressive track record, highlighted by his recent achievements. Not only did he secure a league title, but he also guided Feyenoord to the final of the Europa Conference League last year, narrowly missing out on the trophy to Roma.

Slot’s attacking-minded and exciting style of play has garnered praise from Dutch media. Journalist Marcel van der Kraan, speaking on talkSPORT, described him as a “maniac” when it comes to attacking football:

“Arne Slot is probably the best attacking coach I have seen in the last 35-40 years at Feyenoord. He is very similar to Pep Guardiola, his ideas are very similar, he is a massive fan of Pep and he plays the same way. He goes ultra-attacking, he is almost like a maniac. Not on the touchline but it is fantastic to see how he has turned an average side into a wonderful attacking machine.”

While it remains to be seen whether Veysey’s claims will materialize in the next few days, Arne Slot’s credentials make him a strong candidate for the Tottenham Hotspur managerial position. Spurs fans eagerly await the official announcement that could mark a new era for the club under Slot’s guidance.
