Journalist shares how Conte’s daughter influenced his decision to take the Spurs job

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has been sharing what he knows about Antonio Conte and his decision to take the Tottenham job.

With all due respect to Spurs, this was something of a coup. Conte is one of the best coaches in the world and after struggling to appoint a manager in the spring, it didn’t seem as though Conte was an attainable target.

However, here we are. Conte is the Spurs boss and the London club are ready to enter a new era.

Of course, the allure of the Premier League and the finances that come with that will have played a big part in Conte’s decision to take this job, but Castles is also led to believe that his family pushed for a return to London.

Castles shared what he knows about Conte’s family wanting to return to England.

“There’s also an element of his family wanting to go back to England. His daughter, his 14-year-old daughter, Victoria, for her education purposes they were keen to come back to London and that personal factor, I’m told, has played a role in this decision,” Castles said.

The reason Tottenham will always have the edge on certain European clubs is their geography.

Say what you will about Spurs’ stature in the game, but the city of London is a massive pull in itself.

It’s one of the biggest cities in the world and as Castles says, the education available in and around London is second-to-none.

Yes, Conte could have waited for a move to Manchester or perhaps even Barcelona, but despite both of those cities being great, they both struggle to rival London.
