Journalist says Everton have spoken about selling “amazing” ace, Spurs want him

Speaking on The Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has been speaking about Everton and Jordan Pickford’s future at the club.

The Toffees are in a bit of a precarious position both on and off the pitch. They’re not getting the results they want at the moment, while their years of overspending are seemingly catching up with them.

There have been reports about FFP problems at Goodison Park, and one way to counter-balance those issues is by selling players.

Lucas Digne looks to be on his way to Aston Villa, but Thomas is led to believe that the Merseyside club have also discussed the sale of Tottenham Hotspur target Jordan Pickford.

The journalist shared what he knows about the goalkeeper who has been labelled as ‘amazing’.

“They like the idea of getting an English goalkeeper, and there’s plenty of them around. Obviously, Pickford is the England number one. Everton have been looking at trying to recoup some money from selling players, and they’ve been looking at their most sellable assets. We’re quite sure that Lucas Digne is the one they’re most open to selling, but Pickford’s name has been mentioned as well, and Tottenham would be silly not to look at that, especially if Hugo is to leave,” Thomas said.

Pickford may be one of Everton’s most sellable assets, but he’ll also surely be one of the hardest to replace.

Elite goalkeepers are hard to come by, and they’re even harder to sign when every other club knows you’re desperate for a new number one.

It will be interesting to see whether or not Everton do let Pickford go and if Spurs do indeed look to him as a potential Hugo Lloris replacement.
