Journalist Reveals Interesting Update on Spurs Centre-Back Ahead of Wolves Clash

PA Sport journalist George Sessions has revealed that Ashley Phillips is expected to make the trip to Molineux Stadium with Tottenham’s first-team squad on Monday.

Phillips, who joined Spurs from Blackburn Rovers in the summer, did not feature for the club’s Under-21s against Cambridge United on Tuesday, with Sessions suggesting that this is due to his inclusion in manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the Premier League clash against Wolves.

Postecoglou has a selection headache ahead of the match, with both of his starting center-backs, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, unavailable. Van de Ven picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea, while Romero is suspended for three matches after being sent off for a reckless tackle on Enzo Fernandez.

It remains to be seen who will partner Eric Dier at center-back against Wolves, with Ben Davies also missing the Chelsea clash due to an injury. Davies might be needed at left-back even if he is fit, as Destiny Udogie is also suspended for the match after picking up two yellow cards.

Sessions’ revelation suggests that Phillips is in line to be included in the matchday squad that travels to the West Midlands, which is why the 18-year-old did not travel to Abbey Stadium for the Under-21s match yesterday.
