Jermain Defoe Reveals Surprising Spurs Player with Impressive Pace

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has spoken highly of the club’s goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, revealing that he was impressed with the Frenchman’s electric pace around the goal when he first joined the club.

Defoe recounted how he had met Lloris before he joined Tottenham in 2012, in the South of France, where they played head tennis on the beach. Defoe was so impressed with Lloris’ ability that he gave his Spurs teammates a glowing review of the goalkeeper.

Fast forward over a decade and Lloris is still leading the way for Tottenham in N17, but this could well be his final season at the club. The Lilywhites are expected to prioritize signing a successor to the Frenchman this summer, while some reports suggest that they may give Lloris a choice between leaving or staying to fight for his spot.

Despite the lack of trophies, Lloris will go down as the best goalkeeper to ever appear for Tottenham. Defoe, who played alongside Lloris during his time at Spurs, was impressed with the keeper’s speed and agility, noting that he was “electric around the goal and quick off his line.”

While Lloris may not have won any major silverware with Tottenham, he has been an instrumental figure at the club for over a decade. He has made over 350 appearances for Spurs, captaining the side to the Champions League final in 2019, and is widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the world.

Lloris’ impending departure will be a huge loss for Tottenham, but his contributions to the club will never be forgotten. Defoe’s praise for the goalkeeper highlights just how highly he is regarded by his former teammates and serves as a reminder of the impact he has had during his time at Spurs.
