Japhet Tanganga says Spurs will play attacking football under Nuno Santo

Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga has stated that he believes the club will be playing attacking and exciting football under Nuno Espirito Santo.

There had been reservations from areas of the Spurs support after Santo was appointed. The Portuguese coach set Wolves up in a defensive state last term, which had led to those worries.

But a few weeks into his new job in North London, and the feeling around Spurs is that things could be different under Santo.

And Tanganga has told Football.London that Spurs fans can look forward to forward thinking football under Santo.

“I can tell you for sure that we’re going to be attacking. That’s because we’ve been working hard on it in training and on pressing, and implementing his ideas,” Tanganga said.

“I think the lads have been worked really hard and I’ve been worked really hard, so I think it’s going to be exciting times in these coming years.”

Tanganga will be hoping to be part of the first-team on a regular basis. His versatility should stand him in good stead and he was highly thought of by Jose Mourinho.

As Tanganga says, it could be exciting times for Spurs fans. However, so much will depend on the players coming in, and who stays. Namely, Harry Kane.

If Kane stays put, then Santo can plan with one of the world’s best strikers leading the line. If not, then it becomes a struggle for the new Spurs boss.

Tanganga’s message here is what Spurs fans have wanted to hear. But the proof will be in the pudding when the season gets underway.
