Jamie Redknapp has told the Sky Sports Premier League Preview podcast that he is excited at the prospect of Tottenham newbie Cristian Romero.
Romero, 23, only joined Tottenham in the summer from Atalanta – having won the Serie A Player of the Season award last season.
Then, Romero won Copa America with Argentina – establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet under Lionel Scaloni.
Romero clocked up just his tenth appearance since joining Tottenham on Wednesday night – as Spurs knocked Burnley out of the Carabao Cup.
A tricky tie, Romero was handed the man-of-the-match award – nullifying Burnley’s Matej Vydra, Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez.
Now, he faces Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday – as Spurs take on Manchester United. But ex-Spurs star Redknapp is excited at the prospect of Romero.
“I think Romero could be a player. I like him. He made a mistake, got done for the goal against Newcastle,” Redknapp said.
“But from what I hear and what I see, he is going to be a really good signing for them. There are positives for Tottenham.”
