Jamie Carragher says there’s six players in Everton team who can’t even run, they’ve just signed one of them

Jamie Carragher has issued a brutal assessment of the current Everton team, slamming their players for their lack of athleticism.

The Sky Sports pundit’s comments came in wake of the Toffees’ 5-0 hammering at the hands of Tottenham on Monday night.

Everton looked to have turned a corner in recent weeks, hammering Leeds 3-0 and controversially losing 1-0 to Manchester City.

The Toffees then avoided a giant-killing against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

However, Spurs completely tore Everton apart on Monday night, the Toffees team looking painfully lethargic throughout.

Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, singled out six players for not being able to run.

These were Allan, Donny van de Beek, Seamus Coleman, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Jonjoe Kenny.

“Fundamentally this group of players at this club is so weak now,” said Carragher.

“The lack of athleticism in that Everton team is frightening.

“When you look at midfield, Allan can’t run, Donny van de Beek’s come in, he can’t run. None of the back four can run.

“Harry Kane was running past Michael Keane for one of the goals. Harry Kane is no sprint champion.

“We’ve seen Seamus Coleman two or three times, I feel for him right now, but people are just running off him.

“They’re weak physically and that’s a massive problem going forward for them.”

Van de Beek joined on loan in January and he has impressed in patches.

However, the Dutchman looked seriously off the pace against Spurs, prompting Frank Lampard to take him off.

And numerous other Everton players had arguably their worst games for the club on the night.
