According to Birmingham Live, Wolves’ boss Nuno Espirito Santo has addressed the speculations linking him with the managerial hotseat at Tottenham Hotspur, informs Tothelaneandback.com.
Tottenham are in on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho earlier this week. The Portuguese was let go of after a disappointing run of results that left Tottenham staring at the prospect of missing out on Champions League football next season.
Former midfielder Ryan Mason has been appointed as the interim manager till the end of the season but the search for a permanent head coach has been going on in full fervour.
And one of the names that has been linked to Tottenham’s vacant managerial hotseat is that Nuno Espirito Santo. The Portuguese has been in charge of Wolves since 2017 and has done a sterling job at the Molineux.
From getting them promoted to the Premier League to qualifying for the UEFA Europa League, Santo has taken the Midlands’ club to new heights. And even though things haven’t gone all too well for them this season, he remains highly-rated and has been linked with Tottenham.
Responding to the speculations, Nuno has distanced himself from the Tottenham job, insisting that he still has plenty of time left on his contract with Wolves.
“I have a contract. When I sign a contract there is nothing that I can say more. It’s my decision to sign a contract and that’s all I want to say. When I make a decision like that there’s no doubt in my mind.”
Nuno has proven himself at the Premier League level, doing a fine job at Wolves. A move to Tottenham could be the ideal next step in his career, while Spurs, too, could stand to benefit from his appointment. However, with the Portuguese distancing himself from the job, it remains to be seen if the club is able to convince him to change his mind.
