West Ham United are allegedly prioritising a summer transfer window deal to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 22-year-old hitman is the number one priority signing for Hammers boss David Moyes this summer.
Signing an elite centre-forward before the start of next season is obviously the most important thing on Moyes’s agenda.
West Ham currently have Michail Antonio as our only option through the middle.
The game has undoubtedly changed whereby wingers and midfielders are expected to contribute more to the goals scored column. Even so though, having one striker at the club just isn’t acceptable, especially considering the fact that we apparently have ambitions of challenging for honours both domestically and on the continent.
It seems as though Moyes is desperate to address that in the summer transfer window though…
Claret and Hugh reckon that Benfica hitman Darwin Nunez is the number one priority for the Hammers this summer.
The West Ham insiders claim that we had a £37 million bid for the Uruguay international rejected in the January transfer window.
Moyes is set to go back in for Nunez though…and what a signing he would be for the East London outfit.
The South American centre-forward has absolutely everything that West Ham need and is the perfect striker for David Moyes.
Nunez’s playing style is quintessentially South American. He is a tenacious presser, plays with real physicality and has real technical ability. The 22-year-old seems to be ideally suited to the Premier League what with its intense and robust nature.
Nunez has bagged 27 goals in 34 games for Benfica this season (Transfermarkt). He’s about as prolific as they come.
The 22-year-old is fast, strong and is great in the air. He could cost around £50 million this summer according to A Bola.
That seems like decent value to us in this day and age.
And if Moyes brings the Benfica striker to West Ham in the summer window, we will be absolutely delighted.
