Tottenham did not show a very strong game in the first half. The opponents significantly outnumbered the team from North London in both the chances created and midfield control.
Antonio Conte’s team could not adequately respond in the first half to the persistent pressure of the opponent, and in the second half Spurs were expected to deal with the problems through substitutions.
Harry Kane was also unable to enter the game properly, while Son and Kuluvseski tried to play more widely and create chances. Wolves meantime showed their level with Neto and Podense’s chances being another test for Spurs’ defense.
In the ninth minute of the match, a moment arose for the team from London and Son failed to convert it. Talking about the incident on BT Sport, Jermaine Jenas said that he was outraged why Perisic did not take the shot:
‘I’m actually surprised Son’s taken it. When Perisic came on at Chelsea he took one corner with his left foot and one with his right. It’s a bit of a shocker from Son, to be honest.’
