Ian Wright makes his feelings clear when asked about Spurs and Conte

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted he’s “jealous” of Spurs after they landed Antonio Conte as their new manager.

Tottenham began the season well under Nuno Espirito Santo but things went pear-shared after the September international break.

This culminated in Spurs parting company with Nuno and bringing Conte in as his replacement.

The 52-year-old, who was linked with Tottenham in the summer, is one of the best managers in world football right now.

Conte has managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, as well as the Italy national team.

And he has won a Premier League title, three Serie A championships – including the 2020-21 Scudetto – and an FA Cup.

And while Wright made clear he wasn’t casting aspersions on Mikel Arteta, he was nonetheless a little envious that Spurs had landed such a good manager.

Wright, speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, said when asked how he felt when Conte was announced as the Tottenham boss: “Jealous.

“Not saying that our manager ain’t doing his stuff, but jealous and pleased for them really. He is a top-drawer manager.”
