‘I worry for him’ – Ferdinand claims Spurs man could struggle to make Euros squad

Rio Ferdinand has said that Eric Dier’s recent struggles could cost him a place in the England squad for the Euros, writes the SpursWeb.

Dier started the season in fine form and the decision to permanently shift him to centre-back appeared to be bearing fruit.

However, much like the rest of the Tottenham backline, the 26-year-old has made some poor individual errors over the past few months.

He found himself in and out of the starting eleven during Jose Mourinho’s final few games in charge but the centre-back has started alongside Toby Alderweireld in all four matches since Ryan Mason was handed the reins.

Dier insisted last week that some of the criticism that has come his way this season has been ‘unfair’ and that he has not made as many mistakes as some of the narratives suggest.

However, the England international did certainly did not help his case with his performance at Elland Road, being guilty once again of unforced errors at the back.

Ferdinand claimed that Dier may have hampered his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s squad.

The Manchester United legend told on his YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE (as relayed by HITC): “Eric Dier, I worry for him now.

“Does he get into the England squad now based on some of things I have seen recently, his performances?

“He is struggling for confidence and form.”
