Alan Shearer is getting pretty worried that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is edging closer to his all-timePremier League goalscoring record, writes the HITC.
On Sunday, Spurs beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground, with Kane netting a double against the newly-promoted side, but it could have been very different had he converted his earlier penalty.
When Kane scored in the first half, Shearer was taunted by Tim Sherwood that the 28-year-old is closing in on his record, to which the Newcastle legend responded with a big smile on his face ‘well, it’s not happening this season, that’s for sure’, as he told Premier League Productions.
Then, in the second half, Antonio Conte’s side were awarded a penalty after a handball from Steve Cook on Kane, after they were challenging for an aerial ball.
But Manchester United loanee, Dean Henderson, stepped up to deny his England teammate from that spot to which Shearer replied on Twitter ‘he should never take another pen ever’.
Well, whilst that spot-kick was saved, Tottenham’s main man finally got the cushion the away side needed when he headed in his second of the game late on – that’s 187 Premier League goals for Kane.
73 goals to go for the Three Lions captain to reach the record and Shearer will be getting worried by the day.
“He’s coming for you, Al,” Sherwood told Shearer on PL Productions regarding Kane’s goalscoring record.
“Well, it’s not happening this season, that’s for sure,” said Shearer. “Maybe in two or three seasons.”
After that miss he should never take another pen ever!!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪 https://t.co/ZweJnnSCPe
