Tanguy Ndombele will have to improve a lot if he wants to become a key man for Napoli, according to Calciomercato, with the Tottenham Hotspur loanee receiving a 5.5 rating following his latest performance, writes the TBR.
Ndombele is still finding his feet at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. And Spurs fans will probably not be too surprised to learn that he is yet to stay on the pitch for longer than 45 minutes in any of his four appearances for the club.
The Frenchman was an unused substitute for the amazing Champions League win over Liverpool in midweek. But he was back in the side for Saturday as Napoli hosted Spezia.
It proved to be another good result for Luciano Spalletti’s men. A late goal gave them a 1-0 win to remain the pace-setters in Serie A.
Ndombele was not on the pitch by the time the winner was scored. In fact, he came off at the break.
According to Whoscored, the 25-year-old failed to make a single key pass. He also failed to attempt a single dribble or make an interception. And he only made one tackle.
Calciomercato saw some positives to Ndombele’s display. However, the Italian outlet conceded that he is still some way off the pace.
“The pace is already starting to be better than the race against Lecce, but he is not yet 100%,” Calciomercato wrote, as they gave him a 5.5 rating. “He has to grow a lot to be the protagonist in this Napoli side.”
Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport rated his display even lower, with a 5/10 score.
