Tottenham manager revealed a moment from his career when he had to mark the Tottenham legend Paul Gascoigne in the game against Rangers.
In 1988-1992, Paul Gascoigne wore the shirt of Tottenham Hotspur. During his magnificent game for the latter, he attracted the attention of Lazio, which he joined in 1992.
In 1995, he signed a contract with the Rangers club, where he spent the next three years of his playing career. While playing for Rangers, he mostly was a regular starter. Gascoigne was one of the team’s leading scorers, averaging 0.41 goals per game in the league. With Rangers he won the title twice, and once the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.
Conte recalled a difficult moment from his own career, when he was tasked to mark the Paul Gascoigne during the clash between Juventus and Rangers (via The Scotsman):
“I remember the game, we won against Rangers. I was marking Paul Gascoigne and was running a lot compared to him. My game finished before the end because he injured me!
“We are talking about the past and for sure I have had the pleasure to play at this amazing stadium and against Gascoigne, an icon as a player.”
