Gary Lineker has sent a hearfelt message to former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri.
The club’s Premier League-winning manager was back on the touchline at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was the first time he had returned to Leicester as a manager since leaving the club in 2017.
Despite being in the opposition dugout, Ranieri received a standing ovation from City supporters before the match and the now famous, ‘He Came From Italy…’ chorus rang out around the ground.
Taking to Twitter after the game, Lineker told Ranieri he will always leave Leicester with “plenty of love”.
“Excellent win for @LCFC in the snow,” Lineker wrote. “Was lovely to see Claudio Ranieri back at the King Power. You may have left with no points, Don Claudio, but you’ll always leave with plenty of love.”
Ranieri’s side were beaten 4-2, with goals from Jamie Vardy (x2), James Maddison and Ademola Lookman sealing all three points for the home side.
Vardy and Maddison looked back to their best as the duo helped see their side to victory.
