Ferdinand suggests Conte might want to sell Tottenham player

Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Antonio Conte might decide that he wants to sell Tottenham striker Harry Kane in January, as he told his own YouTube channel.

The former title-winner also added that Conte might feel that Kane still ‘doesn’t look happy’ at Spurs and will then take the drastic call to get rid.

It has been well-documented that Manchester City wanted to sign the England captain in the summer and he wanted to leave.

In the end, nothing materialised, Kane stayed put, he missed pre-season, joined up late and only has one Premier League goal to his name.

He has looked well off the pace and the shadow of the player that was winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot last season, not forgetting also being the top assist-maker.

Either way, Ferdinand shared how Conte might deal with the Kane situation, as he stated that the unlikely scenario shouldn’t be ruled out.

“One of the hardest and biggest jobs is deciding what he is going to do with Harry Kane,” said Ferdinand. “Kane doesn’t look like he wants to be there still.

“Can they get a deal done with Man City? To get him out there, maybe in the summer or this next window.

On Spurs never selling Kane in January: “Conte might have come in there and said ‘listen, I don’t want to have to deal with this. I can see the way Harry’s playing, he doesn’t look happy still’.”

Just like when Jose Mourinho arrived, here is another coach with trophy success and someone whose name alone can persuade Kane to stay put.

It’s going to be interesting to see how he reacts and whether he still wants to leave the club when the transfer window re-opens.

And whilst it might be recycled news for the Spurs academy product, this is the best chance the North London club will have of lifting a trophy and getting back into the Champions League places.

The road will be tough under Conte, but well worth it if he can get it right, and he’s going to need Kane at his very best if he wants his life to be that little easier.
