Fabrizio Romano Shares Whether He Believes Timo Werner Will Now Stay at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur still has a major question mark hanging over them: the future of Timo Werner.

The German striker joined Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig in January with an option to buy for £15 million. However, a decision on activating that clause remains unresolved.

Werner’s early days at Tottenham were promising, but his performances dipped before a hamstring injury sidelined him for the season’s final stretch.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano spoke to JD Football about Werner’s future, expressing doubt about his continued stay at the club. “Timo Werner is still no decision made, but I’m not sure he’s going to stay at the club,” Romano said.

While Werner might not be the perfect fit for Tottenham right now, his £15 million price tag could be a steal for the right club. With experience in the Champions League and a solid goalscoring record in Germany, Werner’s potential remains undeniable.

“£15m for a player with bags of Champions League experience and a decent goalscoring record in Germany isn’t a bad move at all,” Romano noted.

Although Werner hasn’t quite set the Premier League alight during his stints with Chelsea and Tottenham, a move to a smaller club could reignite his form. Even if Tottenham decides against signing him permanently, a transfer within the Premier League for £15 million wouldn’t be surprising. After all, at his best, Werner can be a highly effective striker.
