Fabrizio Romano shares what Tottenham board are thinking about Nuno Espirito Santo

Fabrizio Romano has told his Here We Go podcast that Tottenham are still sticking with Nuno Espirito Santo, despite a tricky start to life at Spurs.

Nuno has watched his side prove just as inconsistent as they were under Jose Mourinho – winning five of their nine league games, but losing four.

Meanwhile, in Europe, it has been just as questionable. Although they have fielded weakened sides, Spurs have only picked up four points from three.

Nuno does seem to have worked out his best system, a 4-2-3-1 double pivot that sees Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. But pressure is mounting.

Asked about Nuno and his future at Tottenham, Italian journalist Romano told his podcast that the club are sticking by their Portuguese gaffer.

“Tottenham are disappointed about losing the London derbies but they are still protecting the manager, at the moment they are still with Nuno.”

The next eight days are important for Nuno. On Wednesday night, his side take on Burnley for a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

They remain fighting on four fronts, and a place in the last eight will give Spurs fans hope. Then, they play host to Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to remain, meaning there is no better in time to play against United. Spurs have the chance to make a real statement.

Then, next Thursday, Spurs take on Vitesse and only a win will do in the European clash. Three wins, and the pressure will be removed.
