Fabrizio Romano Confirms Aston Villa Are Interested in Tottenham Player

Giovani Lo Celso appears set to depart Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine midfielder, in the final year of his contract, has attracted interest from several clubs.

“It is quite clear that Lo Celso is on his way out of Tottenham,” Romano told GiveMeSport. “There is interest also from other clubs around Europe, including Villa, because Unai Emery knows the player so well.”

However, Romano downplays Aston Villa’s current interest, suggesting they prioritize another midfielder: “But at the moment, the focus of Villa in that position is on Ross Barkley, who is expected to join the club from Luton Town, and then we will see if they will decide to enter into conversations for Lo Celso. At the moment, [there’s] still nothing advanced.”

This aligns with reports from Matt Maher, stating that Tottenham’s offer of Lo Celso plus £20m for Villa’s Jacob Ramsey was rejected. With Barkley’s arrival confirmed, Villa’s stance on Lo Celso remains unclear.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest Lo Celso’s former club, Real Betis, are determined to re-sign him. ABC Sevilla, via Sport Witness, claims Manuel Pellegrini’s side “will fight until the end to get their man.”

Lo Celso’s future remains uncertain, with a potential return to Spain or a move to another interested club a possibility.
