Tottenham Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, is reportedly preparing for a new head coach and has offered four players to AC Milan to streamline the squad. The future of the current head coach, Antonio Conte, at Tottenham seems to be coming to an end.
According to The Athletic reporter, Jack Pitt-Brooke, talks over a new contract between Conte and the north London side have halted. The Italian is set to leave Tottenham when his contract expires in the summer.
Tottenham Chairman, Daniel Levy, has decided that a return for Mauricio Pochettino is the best option. However, Paratici is opposed to the move as he believes the squad is better equipped for a manager who plays with a back three, similar to Conte’s style. Thomas Tuchel is one such option. Nevertheless, Levy is likely to get his way as he has more control than Paratici. As such, the latter must prepare the squad for Pochettino’s arrival.
In the 2022 summer transfer window, Paratici had a meeting with AC Milan, where he was desperate to offload four Spurs players. Two of them remained at the club, while the other two joined different sides on loan. Paratici is likely to be in the same predicament this summer, with the possibility of four players swapping Spurs for Milan at the end of the current campaign.
Japhet Tanganga is the first player set to be offered to Milan. Despite Paratici’s efforts to get the defender to go elsewhere, he ended up staying at Spurs this season. Tanganga has only managed five appearances under Conte this term, and with things unlikely to get better under Pochettino, it would make sense if he left. Milan could offer him more regular game time and a chance to get his career back on track.
Left-back Sergio Reguilon, currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, is another player Milan could land. Reguilon will return to Spurs in the summer, but Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon will likely prevent him from getting into the team under Pochettino. A Milan switch could be enticing for Reguilon due to his recent struggles.
Tanguy Ndombele is another player whom Paratici will try to find a solution for, potentially through Milan. The midfielder has not done enough to join loan club Napoli on a permanent basis.
And the final player set to be offered to Milan is young midfielder Pape Sarr. Unlike the previous three, however, Sarr will only be offered to Milan on loan as Spurs believe he has a good future ahead of him.
Paratici is clearly trying to use Milan as a sort of dumping ground for players he does not think can make an impact under Pochettino. But Milan will probably turn their noses up at a couple of them due to their recent performances.
It looks set to be a busy summer for Paratici both in terms of incomings and outgoings. According to Wednesday’s Transfer Gossip, Spurs have begun chasing a Premier League defender.
