Former Tottenham player Steven Bergwijn admits that the second half of last season under Antonio Conte was very difficult for him, mostly mentally.
Ajax, the current club of the Dutchman, wanted to get the player in January, but the Italian specialist did not want to sell the 24-year-old player.
The winger himself has repeatedly admitted that the situation for him in the second half of the season was particularly difficult psychologically. The reason for the player’s inner struggles was the small amount of playing time and the lack of opportunities.
Bergwijn stressed that he worked very hard on himself in all aspects to get more opportunities, but he didn’t get them either.
‘Especially mentally [it was difficult], because I didn’t play much in the second half of the season at Tottenham.’
‘‘The matches and minutes I got, I think forced myself to get a chance but it never came and made it difficult.’
