Tottenham made it three wins from three on Sunday against Watford and Erik Lamela has praised one of his old teammates – in Dele Alli.
It was Son Heung-min’s somewhat fortuitous free-kick that ended up in the back of the net, past Daniel Bachmann. Chances came and went for both.
Inside the first minute, Spurs had a strong case for a penalty on Harry Kane before Eric Dier produced a spectacular block inside his own six-yard box.
Dele himself missed a glorious chance after being set up by Kane, while the England skipper saw a vicious shot from a corner parried by Bachmann.
Eventually, it ended in a third consecutive 1-0 win for Tottenham. Sitting top of the Premier League, Spurs are looking like a well-oiled machine.
Dele posted on Instagram after the match, having produced another 90 minutes. Under Nuno, he has played every minute of league football.
It was another sturdy display from Tottenham. The win over Manchester City was a hard-working one, and it was the same against Wolves.
On Sunday, Spurs were slightly more open and created more chances against newly-promoted Watford. Perhaps, that was expected.
Watford did have chances but Tottenham should have scored far more than one goal. On another day, it could have easily been three of four.
Dele was excellent again in his new box-to-box role and Lamela has praised the Tottenham ace on Instagram. Dom Solanke also commented.
