Eric Dier has told The Mirror that Harry Kane will score a hatful of goals in the Premier League – despite failing to score in the six games he has played.
Kane, 28, is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League – or lay on an assist. It comes after a summer where he nearly went to Manchester City.
He does have six goals this season, but five have come in the Europa Conference League against minnows Mura and Pacos de Ferreira.
The other was in the Carabao Cup against Wolves, in which Spurs won on penalties. But with the international break upon us, Kane will have to wait.
The England skipper will return to Premier League action in mid-October without a goal – but Dier reckons the first will unlock an avalanche of goals.
“I have no doubt about Harry’s qualities, performances or goals. They will definitely come. When they come there will be a lot of them,” https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/eric-dier-harry-kane-tottenham-25136106Dier said.
“You can be sure of that. Harry will be the first to say that the most important thing is the team wins. His performance was good against Villa.”
Amid all the furore of Tottenham losing three games on the bounce in the league, and conceding nine times in those – they have made a solid start.
Sitting in eighth position, they have 12 points from seven league games. A decent return. If they continue at that rate, top six is a possibility.
But what is perhaps more impressive, is that they have achieved these four wins without Kane scoring or laying on an assist.
When those numbers finally start to roll in, Spurs will go up a level. Tottenham are actually in a good position to kick on after the break.
Newcastle, West Ham and Burnley are Tottenham’s next opponents – and Spurs are certainly capable of achieving nine points in those matches.
