Emerson Royal admitted that he has never experienced the dietary changes implemented by Conte

Emerson Royal has admitted that he has never experienced the dietary changes implemented by Antonio Conte at Tottenham before, but he understands how important it is for the players’ performances, writes the SpursWeb.

The former Inter Milan manager, who is still relatively early on into his Spurs tenure, is continuing to make wholesale changes on and off the pitch.

He allegedly found that multiple players were overweight on his arrival at Spurs and has begun to make alterations in terms of the food items on offer at the club’s training centre.

Items such as ketchup, brown sauce, butter and sandwiches have all been added to Conte’s list of contraband, which he also implemented during his time at Chelsea.

Spurs full-back Emerson, who has been one of Conte’s go-to players in the Spurs line-up, has opened up on the changes the Italian has been making to the players’ diets.

The Brazil international admitted it was something that took some getting used, but appreciates it is a method to get the squad playing at its maximum capacity.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Emerson said: “I do like ketchup. I’m used to not eating that sort of food so it’s not too much of a problem.

“Butter. The butter is gone. It’s true he [Conte] has stressed the importance of our body fat and taking away some food.

“I’ve never seen anything like it before and at first it was a surprise and a little difficult but it’s so important for our performances. These details can make all the difference.”
