John Wenham has slammed Tanguy Ndombele and Giovanni Lo Celso as their lack of creativity means Harry Kane has been unable to rest, writes the Football Insider.
Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, is furious that Antonio Conte had to turn to his star man on Sunday (9 January).
Kane, 28, scored his side’s third goal as Tottenham beat Morecambe 3-1 after going a goal behind in the first half.
The striker was brought on in the 69th minute with Spurs still 1-0 down.
Wenham was furious Kane wasn’t able to rest ahead of Wednesday’s 1-0 League Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, which he started.
“The guy never gets a rest, it’s not on,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Against Morecambe, against we had to turn to Harry Kane to spearhead a revival.
“We had to do it against Mura earlier this season at a time when he could have done with a rest. He must be shattered.
“We have a massive few weeks coming up in the league and our most important player could have done with the weekend off after playing 90 minutes against Chelsea a few days before.
“The embarrassing lack of desire and application from those certain players in the squad, people like Ndombele and Lo Celso, are causing this.
“They don’t create so we have to turn to Kane who probably wasn’t expecting to play.
“That’s just another way these players are damaging Kane and the squad. It’s so annoying.”
Chelsea beat Tottenham 1-0 on Wednesday night, giving them a 3-0 aggregate win after their 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture.
Kane had the ball in the net during the second half but VAR ruled out what would have been his 250th career goal at club level.
