” Does not understood the heritage of Spurs”- Roberts drops damning claim amid huge Levy decision at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has told Football FanCast that the sacked Jose Mourinho simply didn’t understand the club, writes the FFC.

The Portuguese was fired by Daniel Levy last week, bringing to an end a tumultuous spell at the club.

Spurs had fallen to seventh in the Premier League table prior to his sacking, and had won just one of their last six games.

Under Ryan Mason, on Wednesday, they got back to winning ways, beating Southampton 2-1 in north London to move within two points of the top four.

Mourinho was regularly pragmatic during his time at Spurs, often instructing his players to sit deep, and defend the leads they gained, instead of trying to consistently attack.

And Roberts does not believe that Mourinho understood the heritage of Spurs’ attacking, and felt that he simply alienated too many players to be successful.

Speaking exclusively to FFC, the Spurs legend was asked whether he felt Mourinho got the club’s ethos, and replied: “No.

“Look, he’s got the job saying ‘you’ve got some brilliant players here, I can make them better’, but his tactics and him personally with players is no longer in football.

“You cannot upset players, it’s impossible.”
