Dejan Kulusevski Says He Loves Playing With £20M Tottenham ‘Warrior’

Dejan Kulusevski shared his admiration for midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, who has recently returned from injury at a crucial time for the team.

Highlighting the significance of Bentancur’s comeback amidst injuries and suspensions facing Ange Postecoglou’s squad, Kulusevski emphasized the impact both players have had since arriving at Spurs under the management of Fabio Paratici.

Delving into his thoughts on Bentancur, Kulusevski expressed his delight at the midfielder’s return to action during an interview with Inside Spurs. He praised Bentancur’s resilience and determination, describing him as a “warrior” and a “machine.”

“It just feels good. Feels good to be at war with him because he’s a warrior, he’s a machine, absolutely unbelievable. How he’s been training with this injury, zero fear. Just going hungry. He wanted to play months ago. He was so hungry so definitely he’s a guy I want to go to war with,” said Kulusevski.

Bentancur’s return not only provides Postecoglou with fresh midfield options but also strengthens the squad to navigate through the current challenges. With key players like Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie suspended and injuries to Micky van de Ven and James Maddison, Tottenham requires a deep and fit squad.

While acknowledging the contributions of other midfielders like Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Pierre Hojbjerg, Kulusevski hinted at Bentancur’s exceptional quality and suggested that, if fully fit, the Uruguayan could soon find himself back in the starting XI.

“Bentancur has been exceptional in fairness to him since signing and it will be interesting to see if the Uruguayan comes into the first choice XI of Big Ange,” Kulusevski remarked.

Looking ahead, Kulusevski suggested that this weekend might be too soon for Bentancur’s return to the starting lineup. However, with the international break on the horizon, he predicted that Bentancur could make a significant impact in the upcoming fixtures. As the team copes with challenges, the return of Bentancur adds depth and quality, providing Tottenham with a boost as they aim to maintain their form in the Premier League.
