Dejan Kulusevski Admits Frustration Over Long Trip for Australia Friendly

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has revealed his frustration with the club’s decision to play a post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Australia.

“It was hard to accept,” Kulusevski told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, as reported by Sport Witness. “The club made the decision that we had to go there and then I had to make the best of the situation.”

Following their final Premier League game of the season, Spurs immediately flew to Melbourne for the one-off friendly, which they lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw. The decision to travel such a long distance for a single match was heavily criticized by fans.

“Of course it was tough,” Kulusevski continued. “It was hard to accept, but nothing can be done. Others decide.”

Despite the long trip, Kulusevski is focused on finishing the season strong with Sweden’s upcoming friendlies against Denmark and Serbia.

“I work hard,” he said. “It’s a last push before the holidays. I’m just trying to give everything I have left. Then I’ll relax.”
