Reports have emerged that Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Daniel Levy, may not only be looking to sack manager Antonio Conte, but also to get rid of the club’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici.
Conte is reportedly close to being sacked following a string of disappointing results and a heated press conference. Now, it seems that Paratici, who was instrumental in hiring Conte as Tottenham’s manager, could also be on his way out.
According to a recent report from Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), Paratici is at risk of being shown the exit door at Tottenham after convincing Levy to bring in Conte, as well as signing players such as Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison, among others.
This news comes as Tottenham’s 2021/22 season continues to be one of inconsistency and disappointment. The team has been knocked out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup by lower league opposition, and also failed to progress beyond the last 16 of the Champions League after being knocked out by AC Milan.
In the Premier League, Tottenham currently sits in fourth place with 49 points, but a number of teams are close behind with games in hand. This means that Tottenham’s place in the top four is far from secure, and they could be in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification next season.
