Cristian Stellini Admits Tottenham Hotspur Forward Deserves More Game Time

Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Cristian Stellini, has acknowledged that Arnaut Danjuma deserves more playing time for the North London team. Danjuma, a Holland international, joined Spurs on loan from Villarreal until the end of the season in the previous transfer window. However, since his arrival, the winger has barely played any first-team football.

Stellini, who became the acting head coach following Antonio Conte’s departure, revealed in an interview with football.london that Danjuma will likely have more opportunities given Tottenham’s lack of attacking options. “Now for sure because we don’t have many players but Danjuma deserves to play probably early, but we also have a squad and some leaders of our team, and if you send them out of the team then you can lose the ability to score.”

Although Danjuma has made four appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal against Preston North End in the 3-0 fourth-round FA Cup win, the 26-year-old has yet to start a game for Tottenham. With Spurs’ attacking strength, it is unsurprising that Danjuma has been on the bench most of the time. Harry Kane, Tottenham’s talisman, has been the only consistent scorer this season, while Son Heung-min has struggled to replicate his form from the previous campaign.

However, Tottenham also has other attacking options, such as Dejan Kulusevski, who has been impressive since his arrival from Juventus in January 2022. The team also acquired the services of Richarlison last summer, although the Brazilian was mostly on the sidelines at Everton. Meanwhile, Lucas Moura is currently suspended after being sent off against Everton.

Given these circumstances, there is a possibility that Danjuma will get more game time in the near future. It remains to be seen whether Stellini will opt to give him some minutes in Tottenham’s upcoming game against Brighton & Hove Albion. However, the Holland international’s impressive performances in training and in the limited minutes he has played so far suggest that he could make a positive impact if given the opportunity.
