Jamie Carragher has responded to Chelsea sacking Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning by re-posting the handshake of Tottenham boss Antonio Conte and Tuchel – joking it was Tuchel and Todd Boehly “this morning”, writes the HITC.

A string of poor results have culminated in the sacking of the German by new owner Boehly on Wednesday. It comes after a last-minute Tottenham equaliser, losses to Leeds and Southampton – and then defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Of course, in the immediate aftermath of Harry Kane equalising at Stamford Bridge against Tottenham, Tuchel and Conte were embroiled in a post-match scrap. It comes after Tuchel held on to Conte’s handshake, sparking reaction.

It is a shock decision. While results have been poor, Tuchel has had to deal with a lot and needed time for his side to gel. Having secured third place last season, Boehly might have given the ex-Dortmund and PSG boss more time.

But, following in the footsteps of his predecessor Roman Abramovich, Boehly has wielded the axe. Carragher reacted, posting a clip of Conte and Tuchel’s handshake and suggests it was both Tuchel and Boehly “this morning”.

It is a shock decision – mainly for the reasons that Tuchel has not been given the time to gel his new-look Chelsea side. Yes, Boehly has spent cash. But with spending cash, a club needs time to get to know the new players.

Losses to Leeds, Southampton and Dinamo Zagreb are unmistakably poor. But Tuchel is one of the world’s best managers and needs time. But the circus continues at Chelsea when it comes to their managerial merry-go-round.

Who next? Brighton’s Graham Potter looks a fair shout. Mauricio Pochettino is out of work. But who would want to go to Chelsea when Boehly has just proved he is as ruthless as Abramovich? An appointment is likely to come soon.
