BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey has revealed what happened in Tottenham Hotspur’s dressing room immediately after their defeat to AC Milan on Tuesday night. Spurs crashed out of the Champions League after a goalless draw with the Serie A champions at home.
Antonio Conte’s men failed to overturn a 1-0 deficit, and it was not until the final few minutes of the game that they showed any real attacking threat. Harry Kane’s header in the fourth minute of stoppage time was the closest they came to scoring all night.
Humphrey explained that it took longer than usual for Conte to emerge from the dressing room after the game. “Conte remains in there, his players remain in there. Clearly some home truths are being shared,” he said.
Although Conte did eventually emerge for his post-match interview with BT Sport, it is believed that he gave his players a piece of his mind after such a disappointing night. Spurs looked toothless in attack, failing to score in their third consecutive game across all competitions.
Despite Tottenham’s underwhelming performance, it was easy to forget that they went into the match trailing by only one goal on aggregate. Conte’s system does not seem to be working for Spurs right now, and he must take some responsibility for their struggles.
This latest defeat is undoubtedly a major setback for Tottenham, who are hoping to finish the season on a high note. However, with a manager like Conte at the helm, there is still hope that they can turn things around in the coming weeks.
