Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Chris Sutton has been speaking about the signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur at Tottenham, writes the HITC.
The pair were signed on transfer deadline day in a last-gasp dash for signings, and while the timing of the arrivals made them look like panic buys, the former Juventus men have looked brilliant since coming in.
Kulusevski has been brilliant, and while Bentancur hasn’t had the same level of impact, he’s also looked like an upgrade on what Spurs previously had.
Sutton believes that these signings were really smart pieces of business from Fabio Paratici.
Sutton was full of praise for Spurs’ January signings.
“They have some good players, Kulusevski coming in looks to be a really smart piece of business. Bentancur, they both look to be upgrades and they look to be big signings for Conte,” Sutton said.
Fabio Paratici signing Kulusevski and Bentancur weren’t the most creative moves he could have made.
The Italian knew both players very well from their time at Juventus, and he already had established contacts at the Serie A club.
However, while those signings were obvious, they’ve turned out to be brilliant.
Kulusevski has looked incredibly bright and has made a number of attacking contributions at Spurs, while Bentancur has also shown a lot of promise in the middle of the park.
Spurs left it late, but their January business was very good.
