According to Football London, people within Tottenham have a worrying theory about the players currently at Spurs, informs the HITC.
Well, a source within Tottenham told Football London that they feel the Spurs squad respond better to a compassionate, arm around the shoulder approach.
It is said that the methods of someone like Mauricio Pochettino are deemed to be a more effective approach towards this Spurs squad, rather than the more intense style of Antonio Conte.
With the Argentine locked into a contract at Paris Saint-Germain while the Italian struggles in N17, that is certainly concerning to hear.
Of course, the source from Tottenham could be wrong, although the results since Conte arrived in November certainly suggest there’s a problem.
Despite an initial bounce under the 52-year-old, Spurs have won just five of their last 12 games across all competitions with Conte at the helm.
The manner in which Spurs suffered some of these defeats, such as the late capitulation against Southampton, is arguably the most concerning thing.
In our view, the Tottenham players need to get on with their job, regardless of what approach is being adopted.
It doesn’t matter if they have a strict boss, or a warmer figure in charge – they all get paid handsomely to win football games for Tottenham, and right now, they’re failing to do so.
Pochettino, José Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte have all failed to get a tune out of this squad, which speaks volumes – the players are the common denominator, and seem to be the main issue.
If they don’t get on board with what Conte is trying to do soon, Daniel Levy should attempt a major clear-out of this weak-minded squad.
