Arnaut Danjuma has been waiting patiently for an opportunity to play since joining Tottenham on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal. He almost joined Everton before signing for Spurs, becoming their first January signing and providing more attacking options for Antonio Conte’s team in the business end of the season.
Danjuma scored on his debut against Preston North End in the FA Cup but has only played two games since then. With just 39 minutes of game time across his three appearances, the 26-year-old Dutch international is hoping for more opportunities to showcase his skills. However, with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison ahead of him, he knows he will need to seize his chance to become a starter for Tottenham in the Premier League.
Danjuma is likely to start on the bench again in the upcoming game against Chelsea, but the FA Cup match against Sheffield United could be the perfect opportunity for him to impress Conte and Cristian Stellini. Tottenham has a favorable run of fixtures, including games against Wolves and Nottingham Forest, and Danjuma could play a key role if given sufficient game time.
Fellow January signing Pedro Porro is also waiting for his chance to shine in the right wing-back role, but he has only made one appearance out of four. Emerson Royal’s impressive performances have made him a regular starter in the position, but if he is rested against Sheffield United, Porro could have a chance to prove himself.
Paul Merson says Tottenham have a top talent in their ranks who can make a significant impact
The competition for places in the Tottenham squad could be crucial in securing another top-four finish and ending their silverware drought. The FA Cup match against Sheffield United could be a pivotal moment for Danjuma and Porro to show why they were brought to Spurs in the first place.
