Ange Postecoglou Gives Blunt Response to Rodrigo Bentancur Kicking the Tottenham Bench

Tottenham’s Champions League hopes were dashed after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night. Manager Ange Postecoglou cut a frustrated figure, but none more so than midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Bentancur, who started the match, had a chance to make an early impact with a fierce shot saved by Ederson. However, his night took a turn for the worse after a reckless challenge earned him a booking. He was then arguably at fault in the build-up to City’s opening goal, allowing Phil Foden to cross unchallenged.

Frustration boiled over for Bentancur in the 55th minute when Postecoglou substituted him for Dejan Kulusevski. Cameras captured the Uruguayan kicking the Tottenham bench in anger before throwing his shin pad to the ground.

When asked about Bentancur’s outburst after the match, Postecoglou offered a curt response: “I didn’t notice. Don’t care.”

Whether this was a genuine oversight or an attempt to downplay the incident remains to be seen. Bentancur’s performance and reaction will no doubt be a talking point in the coming days.
