Taking to Twitter, Football.london’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in hiring Belgium boss Roberto Martinez as the manager, as relays ToTheLaneAndBack.
Tottenham Hotspur are on the lookout for a new manager after having let go of Jose Mourinho last month. The Portuguese lasted 17 months after having replaced Mauricio Pochettino but wasn’t able to achieve the required results, leading to his sacking.
Ryan Mason took over the reins on an interim basis till the end of the season. With the campaign now over, it is high-time that the club found a full-time replacement as early as possible.
Reports earlier this week claimed that Tottenham Hotspur had been in talks to bring in Martinez as the new manager. The Spaniard has managed Wigan Athletic and Everton in the Premier League in the past before guiding the Belgian national team to the top of the FIFA World Rankings.
Martinez’s teams are known to play, slick, attacking football, something that is ought to appeal to the Tottenham board following the dour style under Mourinho. Alasdair Gold, who is ever reliable when it comes to all things Tottenham, however, has claimed that the 47-year-old is not a contender for the Tottenham job as things stand.
As plenty of people are asking about Roberto Martinez, as I’ve said before he is someone Spurs like but he’s not believed to be a contender right now for the current vacant managerial post.
