Tottenham journalist, Alasdair Gold says it’s just a matter of time before Oliver Skipp is handed a new Spurs deal following his excellent start to life in the Premier League this season.
The midfielder has built on his stunning loan stint at Norwich last season, and he is now one of the first names on the Tottenham team sheet in every game.
Skipp signed his latest Tottenham contract some 15 months ago and Gold reckons he is a far better player now and deserves a new contract.
The midfielder was just a prospect 15 months ago and he could have flopped at Norwich or left Tottenham for another loan spell in this campaign.
However, he has pushed ahead of Harry Winks in the Spurs pecking order and Gold believes he is happy to play at the club and keeps getting better.
This should be enough reason for the Lilywhites to keep him and the journalist expects Spurs to open talks on a new contract with improved terms with him soon.
He responded to a fan who asked if it’s true that Spurs is planning to give him a new deal and said via a Football London Q/A Session:
“I think it’s just a matter of time. He’s a key starter now and he’s only going to get better. He loves it at the club and is a far more developed player than the one who signed a four year deal 15 months ago, so I think that will be sorted sooner rather than later.”
