Alan Shearer has been left in awe of Anthony Gordon this season with the Everton youngster bursting onto the scene at Goodison Park.
The 21-year-old has established himself as a stalwart in Frank Lampard’s side with his mightily impressive performances.
Shearer spoke of the starlets’ almost old school nature with the winger always wearing his heart on his sleeve on the pitch.
He said on the Premier League’s Youtube channel: “A young man that has been causing quite a bit of excitement is Anthony Gordon. Everton fans have really gotten behind the winger who has shown passion and plenty of ability in what has been a tough season for the Toffees.
“I’ve personally been impressed by his fearless attitude, he’s not afraid to get stuck in and he tries to make things happen going forward, putting plenty of crosses into the box.”
Gordon has been scintillating this season. Ever since the youngsters held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in a game where they shouldn’t have had a chance, the forward hasn’t looked back.
He has undoubtedly been the Toffees’ best player in the second half of the season.
It is easy to forget just how young he is sometimes with the mature performances he puts in.
Shooting, passing, tackling, work ethic, attitude, the Scouser has it all and the sky is the limit for him.
The only thing he needs to improve is his end product. There have been times he should have done much better with his final ball or when in front of goal, but that calmness will come in time as he gains more experience.
It really does speak volumes of the rest of this Blues team when a youngster can come in and almost effortlessly become the best player but take nothing away from his ability, he is a real star.
